Abstract | The relationship between law enforcement and diverse communities in the UK is often strained, marked by mistrust, poor communication, and perceptions of inequity. This study, From Badges to Bridges, explores how legal reforms and community engagement can improve these relationships. Using survey data from Derby residents and an analysis of policing initiatives, legislation, and case law, the research highlights dissatisfaction with police responsiveness and concerns about fairness. Findings underscore the need for reforms focused on communication, equity, and accountability. The study proposes actionable strategies to foster trust and collaboration, contributing to a more inclusive policing framework in the UK. |
