Abstract

Is it possible for socio-economically disadvantaged women, including those from minority communities to start and run successful enterprises in rural Pakistan? Feudal systems, patriarchal institutions and societal norms have long been condemned for causing hurdles, in the entrepreneurial and socioeconomic activity of women in rural Pakistan. A wide gap exists in the interpretation and demonstration of the objectives of a patriarchal system, causing the mis-portrayal and digression from the genuine trials faced by women in contributing to society through entrepreneurship. This case study aims to uncover both the challenges and opportunities while highlighting best practices, in the way women led enterprises evolve within a developing economy, feudal system and patriarchal society.
