Abstract

This chapter analyses the role of great powers in the Palestinian-Israeli issue. Great power involvement has played a crucial role in the emergence of the modern Palestinian-Israeli issue, and external powers’ involvement remains one of the key factors explaining the current situation on the ground. This chapter starts by briefly analysing the history of great powers’ involvement in Palestine-Israel before turning to current great power involvement. In so doing, it focuses on the USA, undoubtedly the most influential external power due to its strong alliance with Israel, in addition to Russia, China, and the European Union. It concludes that the “unbalanced” involvement of great powers in the conflict remains a key factor in the Palestine-Israel conflict.
