Abstract | Therapeutic proteins (antibodies, vaccines) have become one of the largest and fastest growing biopharmaceutics in the last two decades. The rapidly expanding market presents a great challenge to industrial manufacturing. One of the most limiting factor in biopharmaceutical manufacturing is downstream product recovery due to the high-cost and insufficient capacities. The downstream process comprises different chromatographic, virus inactivation and filtration steps to achieve the quality constraints for protein therapeutics. To achieve efficient production at reduced costs, advanced simple alternative strategies are needed |
