Description | Jingo Jango is a single silver gelatin mural photographic framed print that critically considers the colonial British legacy in the Americas. Jingo Jango – colloquially translating to ‘ridiculous patriotic war mongerer’ – seeks to critique the gestural, performative behaviors of both the ignorant tourist and the audacious colonizer as a homogenized caricature. This work provides an experimental, yet problematic tackling of this burden with an attempted unshackling of a regrettable yet acknowledged ancestral history. Exhibited in March 2023 for FORMAT International Photography Festival, University of Derby, UK. |
