Abstract | This chapter examines the reasons why sex offenders refuse to participate in or drop out of treatment, or maintain their denial of responsibility. Our argument is that there are most often understandable reasons for each of these offender responses and that, with this knowledge, a number of strategies can be used to respond to sex offender denial, refusal, and treatment drop-out. The strategies outlined include modifications to the context or setting within which treatment is available and responding to the individual sex offender. |
