Abstract | Inspired by natural human skin, huge progress has been made in the design and development of electronic skin (e-skin). With soft and stretchable structures, better sensing and efficient data processing, etc., huge efforts have been made to impart the e-skin with characteristics that correspond to or even go beyond the capabilities of human-skin. To this end, various soft sensors have been constructed using compliant materials and using different transduction mechanisms and structural designs. This article discusses advances in the development of various soft sensors for e-skin—material selection, recent examples, challenges and perspectives. |
