Abstract | Chapter 7 presents some common functional mechanisms of flexible and wearable sensors, including their flexible interfacing and wireless communication circuits. Following the advances in flexible and printed electronics, interfacing circuits for such devices are gradually shifting from conventional rigid versions to the more flexible versions, which will lead to the realization of very comfortable and highly conformal wearable systems. In recent times, interest in the realization of circuits with printing technologies such as screen printing, contact printing, etc, is rapidly increasing. Researchers are now even exploring the use of biodegradable materials including paper for the implementation of disposable circuits. Rapid advances in 3D/4D printing technologies are revolutionizing wearable systems and 3D printed circuits. |
