Description

A triple bill demonstrating the diversity of contemporary dance. From humour, to film, to pure movement.

3Fold captivated audiences on its tour, leaving a lasting impression at venues such as Déda, Buxton Pavilion Arts Centre, and the World Events Young Artists festival. This dance spectacle, with its blend of humour, emotion, and introspection, showcased the incredible artistry and versatility of contemporary dance, leaving a lasting impact on the broad range of audiences that experienced it.

More detail:

The first piece, "Deuce," transported audiences into the exhilarating and comedic realm of tennis. A whimsical exploration of the game, it delved into the idea that tennis is not merely a sport but an art form, akin to ballet or theatre. Drawing inspiration from Bill Tilden's profound words, the performers took the stage to embody the grace, intensity, and theatricality of the game, leaving the audience both amused and enchanted.

Following the laughter and delight of "Deuce," the second piece, "The Journey of Discovery," unfolded like a visual poem inspired by the 'Alice books.' Collaborating with film artists Illuminos, this piece skilfully captured the emotions of excitement and distress experienced in new places and situations. The synergy of dance and film created a mesmerizing narrative that resonated with the audience, inviting them to reflect on the complexities of discovery.

Concluding the triple bill was the poignant and thought-provoking "Spare a Minute." Originally commissioned by the Bakewell Arts Festival in 2011, this piece offered a profound insight into the ever-changing speed of relationships, all encapsulated within a single minute in time. As the characters on stage navigated decisions that could alter the course of their lives, the audience was drawn into a contemplative exploration of the delicate intricacies that shape human connections.
