The Creative Parent Symposium

The Creative Parent Symposium, held in May 2024 at Deda, catered to parents and caregivers who work in the creative industries by providing a unique platform to connect and share that incorporated children's participation.

This family-friendly event facilitated discussions on the intersection of parenthood and creativity, featuring diverse speakers and children-based workshops by The Gramophones Theatre Company, as well as a performance by Adaire to Dance.

Attendees explored the challenges and positives of balancing parenting and creative pursuits, with a keynote address from Dance Mama and support from PIPA. Funded by Derby City Council and the University of Derby Research Fund, the symposium attracted forty attendees, including six children. Feedback from the event called for similar future gatherings, highlighting its success and impact.
