Abstract | Ethnic studies in K-12 schools has been a contentious issue in the United States for the past several years. While most programs are based off of university ethnic studies courses and focus on Blacks, Latinos, Indigenous Peoples, and Asians/Pacific Islanders, there is little to no mention of American Jews and anti-Jewish hatred. Antisemitism is increasing drastically across the U.S., yet there continues to be strong resistance to teaching about American Jews in the middle and high school ethnic studies classroom. This text explains why it is essential that K-12 schools address anti-Jewish hatred in order to help eliminate antisemitism amongst a new generation of American youth. |
