Ineffectual Barriers

Fisher was included in an online exhibition, Room 19 organised by The Digital and Material Artistic Research Centre at the University of Derby as part of the International Photography Festival, 'FORMAT21: Control'

Fisher's contribution to the exhibition was 'Ineffectual Barriers', (2015 – ongoing) which are a series of photographs that document and capture chance encounters with temporary structures/barriers that have become redundant. Ordinarily, barriers are employed to control flow, preventing people from moving easily from one area to another, usually in an effort to keep them safe, away from danger. The images enable us to revel in the beauty of uselessness.
In capturing what he considers to be ‘found sculptures’ encountered within the urban environment, the series of photographs expands on Fishers' research in relation to sculptural practice.
