Abstract

Fisher was invited by Dr. Rhiannon Jones, Associate Professor (Civic), University of Derby to deliver a case study presentation for The Contemporary Art Working Group, co-hosted by the Colour Literacy Project as part of a focused round table session, Design For Adaptation Cumulus Conference, Detroit, USA 2022.

The hour-and-a-half workshop will explore examples of practice – provide participants with time to reflect and discuss together. Adaptation cannot be an afterthought, and color plays a crucial role in how we engage and interact with one another and the world around us.
The discussion will tease out how color theory and practice can have a real impact and seek ways to draw out the issues of Climate change consequences that are impacting not only our environment but human rights, poverty, inequity, global food security, health, etc. How are we, as academics and practitioners engaging with color through our teaching and learning and with innovation and research to address and contribute to the rapid call for action and adaptation.

The event was chaired by Dr. Rhiannon Jones, Associate Professor (Civic), University of Derby, UK and included
presentations by guest contributors:
Luanne Stovall – University of Texas; Ingrid Calvo Ivanovic – Politecnico di Milano; Robin Kingsburgh – York University and Craig Fisher, University of Derby
