Fisher, C. 2022. FLAT SPACE .
CreatorsFisher, C.
Description

Fisher was invited by co-director and curator Garth Gratrix to develop a new body of work for a commissioned solo exhibition 'FLAT SPACE' at ABS Project Space, Abingdon Studios, Blackpool from 27 October - 26 November 2022.

Fisher produced a number of works such as 'a flat land', a large scale wall mounted stitched architectural painting installation which continues to draw on his interest in the representation of vacant interior spaces and employs a formal abstract visual language to explore ideas of pictorial disruption, interruption and spatial collapse through an investigation of the architectural ruin / abandoned spaces. The stage-like painted wall hanging frames and contains a number of flattened sculptural components (props) that allude to architectural detritus which were configured (and reconfigured) throughout the duration of exhibition as a way to explore the works performative and sculptural potential.

The exhibition commission was supported by Arts Council England (ACE)

Abingdon Studios is a contemporary visual art studios and project space based in the heart of Blackpool Town Centre.
