Description

Fisher was selected to participate in The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2021. The exhibition included 101 drawings by 89 artists selected by Sheela Gowda, Artist, Simon Groom, Director of Modern and Contemporary Art at National Galleries Scotland, and Zoé Whitley, Director of Chisenhale Gallery in London, and 13 drawings by 12 drawing practitioners were selected for the Working Drawing Award and display by Leonie Bell, Director of V&A Dundee, Charles O. Job, Designer and Architect, and Paul Finch, Programme Director of the World Architecture Festival.

The diverse exhibition of 114 drawings overall reflects a broad scope of current drawing practice by artists, architects, designers, and makers at all stages of their careers – living and working across the four nations of the UK as well as Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, The Netherlands, and the USA. The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2021 received 3,300 entries from 1,673 drawing practitioners from 46 different countries for the exhibition and awards.

Fisher exhibited 'Pages from my Sketchbook', an ongoing series of drawings that employ labour intensive textile techniques (machine and hand embroidery) to re-present and replicate the quick notes/sketches/drawings he makes in notebooks.
Taking inspiration from his everyday and the art/artists he's exploring, the sketchbook page drawings visualise ideas, thinking and research. Re-making the original ‘sketches’ by stitching them offers a different perspective on their value, elevating their status due to the time spent producing them. Fisher is interested in ideas of translation through the process of making as well as exploring the pictorial and sculptural boundaries of drawing.

The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2021 exhibition was held at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London from 18 November - 5 December 2021.
The exhibition then toured to Drawing Projects UK, Trowbridge, 8 January - 5 March, 2022 and Cooper Gallery, University of Dundee, Dundee, 21 March - 16 April, 2022

The exhibition was accompanied by fully illustrated exhibition catalogue, published by Drawing Projects UK
