Abstract | This paper will look at the challenges and benefits of a place-based approach to support social equity. It will look at a range of placed based approaches that have been designed, through a partnership model with key stakeholder in a hyper local way. It will describe how this mode for action can attend to issues of social equity from an asset-based position for learning. The paper will explore the differing definitions of what success looks like in a given place, in order to transform life for the benefit of its community. The question then, is how do we learn from the lessons of the past, and the challenges and opportunities of place-based practice, so that it continues to place the community as the expert in their own lives. |
