Abstract | It is now over twenty years since the birth of social media and, according to Statista, the number of people engaged in these types of online networking platforms has reached over 39 million in the UK alone. These users include a generation who have grown up with such fast social interactions in a virtual world of posts for ‘likes’, ‘friends’ and ‘followers’. These young adults’ desire to engage in social media is often intertwined with their everyday lives. |
