Abstract | This chapter presents three different approaches to embedding employability in the curriculum. The first discusses the use of a live case study from a local organisation, with the students working to a brief set by the employer. The second demonstrates how social media can be used as a learning tool to build employability skills through a ‘Twitter Takeover’ in which student groups are paired with organisations and tweet on their behalf. The third involves students working for one day per week at a local organisations to complete a live project for those employers, which is then contextualised by complementary study in the classroom. All three approaches aim to embed skills in live situations and to increase students’ confidence when seeking future internships, placements and graduate roles. |
