Abstract | The Motivation to Change Lifestyle for Dementia Risk Reduction Scale--Brief (MOCHAD-10; Oliveira et al., 2019) measures motivation to change lifestyle for dementia risk reduction. The original 27-item MCLHB-DRR (Kim et al., 2014) was modified to create a brief assessment. Psychometric evaluation of the data was conducted using a sample of individuals aged 50 and over with no self-reported dementia diagnosis. Exploratory factor analysis and scree plot found evidence that 10 items should be retained across two factors representing both positive and negative elements related to motivation to change lifestyle covering a range of beliefs and feelings. The retained items represent five of the seven domains of the Health Belief Model, except for ‘perceived barriers’ and ‘general health motivation’. Confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency were also reported. Test completion was approximately 15 minutes. (PsycTests Database Record (c) 2022 APA, all rights reserved) |
