Abstract | This guide is designed to introduce the idea of work experience for practitioners working in schools and technical and vocational education and training settings in low- and middle-income countries. The guide provides an introduction to the concept of work experience and insights into how this idea can be introduced into the education system. It makes use of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) career development (CD) framework to structure and support the learning that is needed around work experience placements. This guide is designed to be highly practical. It is aimed at practitioners and programme managements. It is published alongside the Handbook for career and livelihood development. We would recommend downloading the two documents together. The handbook was developed for the ILO by Hannah Blake (University of Derby), Tristram Hooley (University of Derby) and Pedro Moreno da Fonseca (International Labour Organization). |
